USF currently offers the M.S. Biomedical
Engineering, with both a thesis option and a
non-thesis option. The thesis option
requires 30 semester hours and the
completion of a thesis. The non-thesis
option requires 33 semester hours. Students
who intend to pursue the Ph.D. are strongly
urged the thesis option.
- For both the thesis
and non-thesis options, students must
complete the following three courses (9
credit hours):
- BME 6747 -
Biomedical Engineering (3 credit
hours)- GMS 7930 - Anatomy
& Physiology for Engineering (3
credit hours)
- PHC 6051 -
Biostatistics II (3 credit hours)
Note: that no credit will
be given for PHC 6050 Biostatistics
I.
- Students then select
elective courses as approved by their
thesis committees (thesis option) or the
program advisor (non-thesis option).
- Thesis option
students must complete and successfully
defend a Master's thesis. Up to 6 hours
of thesis may be included towards the 30
hours required.
- Non-thesis students
must complete a total of 33 hours of
coursework.
For either option, 16 hours minimum must
be at the 6000 level or higher, not
including thesis hours.
In general, students must
also satisfy all general requirements
applicable to any USF master's degree
program. You may consult the
Graduate Catalog for details.
