Admission
Requirements for M.S.
Applicants for the Master's degree
in Biomedical Engineering should have the following
minimum qualifications:
- GRE score of 1000 minimum
(verbal + quantitative)
- An undergraduate GPA pf 3.0
or higher (out of a possible 4.0) based on
official transcripts.
However, admitted students will
typically have higher GRE scores and GPAs. Admission
is very competitive; the number of applications
usually exceeds the available positions. Particular
attention will be given to engineering and
math/physics course performance during the junior
and senior years. While fall applications are
preferred, students can apply at any time during the
year. For the M.S. degree, letters of recommendation
are nor required.
While not required for admission,
students who anticipate advanced training in
biomedical engineering should select courses in the
life sciences and related areas as part of their
undergraduate training.
Students who do not have an
undergraduate degree in engineering can apply from
the M.S., but may be required to complete a limited
number of remedial course in engineering. These
courses will typically be determined by the
student's area of research interest and normally do
not count toward the graduate degree requirements.
Students may also be required to take selected math
and physics courses depending on their background in
these areas.
